Bauchi marginalized in federal employment, appointments — Gov Mohammed

Bauchi Governor, Bala Mohammed has expressed concerns over the state’s lack of fair representation in federal employment and appointments.

This is as he urged the Federal Character Commission (FCC) to address the imbalance and ensure that Bauchi is not marginalized in staffing for key federal ministries, departments, and agencies.

The governor made the appeal during a visit from an FCC delegation led by Executive Chairperson Dr. Muhibbah Dan Kaka at the Government House in Bauchi on Wednesday.

According to him, there is the need for equitable federal appointments in line with the provisions of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, while highlighting the importance of justice and fair representation for the state at the federal level.

Mohammed argued that Bauchi State has qualified and capable individuals who can contribute meaningfully to national development, provided they are given fair opportunities.

“Fair representation in federal appointments will not only strengthen national unity but also foster a sense of belonging among all Nigerians,” he remarked.

Responding, the FCC Executive Chairperson, Dr. Muhibbah Dan Kaka affirmed the Commission’s commitment to promoting equitable distribution of positions nationwide.

She assured the governor that Bauchi’s concerns would be taken into consideration as the FCC fulfills its mandate of fostering unity and fair representation in public offices
