Why I haven’t spent LG funds in 17 months – Gov Otu

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has explained why he has not touched the Local Government subvention for the state after 17 months in office.

He disclosed this during a session with candidates from the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the upcoming Local Government Council elections yesterday.

He said, “The local government allocations have remained untouched because I believe that the state requires substantial funds to invest in a legacy project that holds immense benefits for the people.”

Otu said the main legacy project is the state aviation project.

He disclosed that they have recently acquired four new aircraft to enhance flight operations for Calabar routes that have experienced frequent flight cancellations.

He said his administration will boost airline operations currently operating as Cally aircraft under a lease agreement with Aero contractors airlines.

Governor Otu also explained that all 18 local government councils hold equity shares in the airline operations in the state.

He stated that share certificates would be presented to each council chairman when elected
