New minimum wage: Nigerian workers confirm receiving FG Payment

Nigerian workers have confirmed receiving Federal Government’s new minimum wage.

The spokesperson of Nigeria Labour Congress, Benson Upah and the Deputy President of the Trade Union Congress, Tommy Etim disclosed this in a separate statement on Thursday.

Upab and Etim’s comments come as DAILY POST exclusively reported on Thursday that the Federal Government has begun the payment of the N70,000 minimum wage.

Reacting to the new minimum wage payment commencement, Upah, asked establishments in the country to emulate the example set by the Federal Government.

“Yes, I think so. We ask other entities to emulate this example”, he said.

Similarly, TUC’s Etim said, “FG’s committee on consequential adjustments already released a template, so, no one has any moral ground to delay the payment of the minimum wage. We now advise that all other parties follow suit and commence the payment of the new minimum wage.”
