The Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, has backed the call by elder statesman, Edwin Clark for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.
This is in reaction to the former Rivers State governor’s recent statement wherein he was quoted to have threatened to ‘put fire’ in states being governed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The Coalition described it as an issue of national security.
In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Chief Peter Ameh, CUPP further slammed the federal government for the manner in which it has ignored Wike’s outburst, insisting that this shows the issue of double standard.
CUPP said it aligns itself with a recent statement of Clark as he demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of Wike for alleged treason.
“The recent events in our nation have highlighted a disturbing trend- the application of double standards in addressing citizens’ actions. This inconsistency has far-reaching implications, eroding trust in institutions and fueling discontent among the populace,” CUPP said
