President Tinubu to Swear in New Chief Justice of Nigeria on Friday

President Bola Tinubu is set to swear in the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, on Friday, August 23.

This was announced in a statement by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngalale on Thursday.

The statement also congratulated the outgoing Chief Justice, Olukayode Ariwoola, on his retirement.

“President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Olukayode Ariwoola, as he retires as Chief Justice of Nigeria after a successful public service career.

“Mr Ariwoola had served as Justice of the Court of Appeal in Kaduna, Enugu, and Lagos divisions before his elevation to the Supreme Court in 2011.

“He was sworn in as Chief Justice of Nigeria in 2022 and had also served the nation in diverse capacities as a judicial officer,” the statement said.

President Tinubu commended Ariwoola for his impactful leadership of the judiciary, his efforts in enriching Nigerian jurisprudence, and his contributions to strengthening the legal system.

The swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Justice will take place at the State House Council Chambers in Abuja.
