Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo (PhD), a House of Representatives Member for Ikono-Ini Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State has offered cash grants of 20 million naira to additional fifteen indigenes in his constituency.
Hon. Ukpong-Udo while presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries through his Aide, Engr. Donald Bassey on Tuesday said the aim was to assist them in their various trades amid hunger and hardship in the country.
According to his Aide, Engr, Bassey, “as has been the practice, the beneficiaries of the business grant become the latest members of Rep. Ukpong-Udo’s business empowerment and entrepreneurship promotion initiative, the ‘Macaire Enterprise Development Scheme (MEDS).’
He also noted that the gesture was part of Ukpong-Udo’s electioneering campaign promises, and said the beneficiaries were selected from different communities that make up Ikono-Ini Federal Constituency.
He appreciated the beneficiaries for their patience and prayers that saw the lawmaker winning the election.
In their reactions, one of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of others thanked Hon. Ukpong-udo’s kind gesture and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon him.
