The people of Mgbom Na Achara community in Ebonyi State have expressed delight over the award of a contract for the construction of the 12-kilometer Ogwumabiri/Ojigwe Road.
This was contained in a communique issued by the Mgbom Na Achara Development Union (MADU), after its meeting on Saturday.
The communique was made available to DAILY POST on Sunday and signed by Philip Ude Eze, President General, Comrade Udechukwu Obaji, Secretary General and Ms Ngozichi Okorie, Publicity Secretary
The meeting, among other things, deliberated on the commencement of the construction of Ogwumabiri/Ojigwe Road and the vacant stool of Namoke among other things.
The communique conveyed the community’s “deep appreciation to His Excellency, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the Executive Governor Ebonyi State, for wiping the tears of Mgbom Na Achara Community by commencing the construction of the 12-kilometer Ogwumabiri/Ojigwe Road in our community.
“The Exco pledges to reciprocate the love shown to our people by His Excellency Governor Nwifuru and vows to support all the programmes and policies of his administration as he navigates the affairs of Ebonyi State.”
On the vacant Eze stool, the Exco acknowledged the need to commence the process of filling the position by selecting the Eze from Mgbom Enu Kindred.
“The stool of Namoke became vacant after the demise of HRH late Eze Asu Udeogu, Namoke II of Mgbom Na Achara Autonomous Community.
The Exco resolved to immediately issue a letter of notification to Mgbom Enu kindred directing the commencement of the process of selecting the Eze in line with the constitution of Mgbom Na Achara Autonomous Community.
The Exco deliberated on the ongoing mining activities at Ogbu-Enu Mgbom and expressed concern over the health and safety of the people living within the surrounding areas where the activities are carried out and observed the need for the miners to comply with all extant Mining Laws including the requirement for a reclamation plan upon completion of their operations.
“The Exco resolved to liaise with the landowners to ensure that every environmental, safety and health issue is resolved with the miners.
“The Exco expects our people to be law-abiding, to ensure that the ongoing road construction work goes on smoothly without stoppage of work. It also enjoined our people to commence the process of Ezeship selection in a peaceful and orderly manner,” the communique further stated
