Imo LG Polls: SDP fixes chairmanship, councillorship forms for N150,000, N50,000

Ahead of the local government elections in the state, slated for September 21, the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Imo State, has pegged its Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms at N150,000 and N50,000 for chairmanship and councillorship positions, respectively.

The announcement was made by the state chairman of the party, Amb. Dr. Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry, in Owerri, on Saturday, during a chat with journalists.

He outlined that the Expression of Interest Form for chairmanship position is N50,000, while Nomination Form is N100,000, while that of Councillor, Expression of Interest Form was pegged at N10,000 and Nomination Form N40,000.

The state chairman disclosed that any woman who has an interest will pay 50% of the amount already stipulated and that same is also applicable to senior citizens.

He disclosed that Persons with Disabilities will purchase the form free of charge.

Eluwa explained that the price for the forms was pegged low to enable party members who have interest to do so easily.

He noted that the SDP is purely democratic, having the ideologies of raising democratic leaders who will uphold causes of humanity and thereby make life worth enjoying for all and sundry.

In a similar vein, the chairman has hailed the Supreme Court for granting autonomy to the Local Government Administration in the country, describing the judgement as a victory for democracy.

He stated that the move by the judiciary will improve good governance, prosperity, and enhance grassroots development
