Tears As 15 Students Confirmed Dead, 77 Injured In Jos School Building Collapse (Photo) 

Report reaching Igbere TV news desk has it that at least 15 lifeless bodies have been recovered and deposited in three mortuaries in Jos, while 77 persons are receiving treatment in various hospitals across the state capital, following the tragic collapse of Saint Academy school building in Jos.

Recall that a school building, Saint Academy situated in Busa Buji in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, collapsed on Friday morning, trapping numerous students and teachers inside.

The incident occurred around 11 am while the students were taking exams.

Parents, yet to reunite with their children, have now flooded the hospitals, desperate to locate and ascertain the condition of their loved ones.

Investigations reveal that Our Lady of Apostles Hospital Mortuary has received five corpses, with 27 injured persons receiving treatment. Bingham Teaching Hospital Morgue has received eight corpses, with 16 others receiving treatment, while Plateau Specialist Hospital has recorded two deaths and 34 injured students, including two with spinal cord injuries.

Jos University Teaching Hospital and other medical facilities within the state capital are also providing immediate medical attention to the injured.

Reports have it that the joint security task force, Operation Safe Haven, has mobilized five Hilux vehicles and 30 troops to support the rescue operation.

Excavators, volunteers, security personnel, and Red Cross members are still working tirelessly to rescue trapped students under the rubble.

Meanwhile, the Plateau state government has instructed hospitals to prioritize treatment without documentation or payment and has ordered all major hospitals in Jos to attend to the victims.
