The Federal University of Gusau, FUGUS, has graduated 2,534 students for the second combined 3rd and 4th convocation ceremonies at the institution’s premises, in Gusau, the state capital.
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Mua’zu Abubakar Gusau said that the university held its last combined 1st and 2nd combined ceremonies for 2017 and the academic session, saying that 2019/2020 and 2021/2022 convocation ceremonies were suspended due to the effect of global Covid 19.
He said that there were 2,534 graduands, which he said is 27.03 higher than the graduands of the last convocation, saying that the graduands were the students who satisfied the requirements of the Senate of the institution.
“One hundred and ninety six students graduated from the Humanitarian faculty, 630 from Education Faculty, 1195 from the Science faculty 509 from the Management and Social Science,” he added.
According to him, 43 graduands had First class degrees, 676 graduands with Second Upper Class degrees while 78 had 3rd class degrees.
Speaking further, he said that the university is presently running 28 academic programs with full accreditation, pointing out that the remarkable accreditation encouraged the Institution to make consultations which he said resulted to academic accreditation for various courses at postgraduate level.
Professor Gusau noted that the Institution has challenges facing it, pointing out that the challenges are security and lack of funds for researches and other things
