The management of Nnamdi Azikinwe University, UNIZIK has asked its graduating students to pay the sum 20,000 Naira each for allegedly “defacing” and taking pictures in front of the school gate.
A source which spoke to Igbere TV correspondent on the condition of anonymity said the students were just wrongly accused as no harm was done at the school gate.
The source revealed that it was just a method of extorting money from the students for no reason.
According to the source, “my younger sister is among the students that are being forced to pay this money.”
“The worst part of it is that they are supposed to join the list of graduates who are to graduate on 29th may 2024 but their clearance are indefinitely stopped until they pay the said MONEY which is purely extortion.”
“If this is not addressed, my sister will not graduate with other of her mates just because of the corruption in UNIZIK.”
“I don’t even have that money to pay. I trained my sister in school, I am currently incapacitated so I’m a direct victim of this”, the source said.
IGBERE TV also spotted a memo signed by the management of the school asking students from the department of Pure And Industrial Chemistry, Applied Microbiology And Brewery, Applied Chemistry, English Language And Literary Studies and Music to pay the sum of 20,000 Naira each for “defacing the school gate”.
When IGBERE TV contacted the School Management through the University’s known phone to speak on the issue, a lady who picked the call declined to make comments saying she’s not authorized to speak on the matter.
