Barrister Deji Adeyanju Speaks On Appealing Bobrisky’s Conviction

Human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has denied reports making the rounds that he has appealed the conviction of popular cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky.

In an exclusive telephone interview with our correspondent on Monday, Adeyanju noted that he’s neither an attorney to Bobrisky nor he filed an appeal on his behalf.

Adeyanju said, “I didn’t file any appeal on Bobrisky’s behalf. I am not representing Bobrisky on any matter.”

On Friday, April 5, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arraigned Bobrisky on a six-count charge ranging from abuse of the naira to money laundering.

The court, however, dismissed the money laundering charges but convicted him after he pleaded guilty to four counts of abuse of the naira.

Bobrisky was on Friday, April 12, sentenced to six months imprisonment over naira abuse with no option of fine

It was, however, reported on Monday that the convicted crossdresser appealed his sentencing while urging the appellate court to set aside the six months imprisonment.
