Plateau Govt security outfit denies aiding, abetting attacks

Plateau State security outfit, code named Operation Rainbow, has debunked reports that it is aiding and abetting attacks in some communities of the state.

Public Relations Officer of the outfit, Panan Dapar, debunked the reports in a press statement made available to journalists in Jos on Thursday.

Parts of the statement reads: “The attention of Operation Rainbow has been drawn to a malicious news making the rounds about the unfortunate breakdown of law and order in parts of Mangu Local Government Area leading to loss of lives, properties and worship centers.

“The unfounded allegation that personnel of the Outfit are aiding and abetting attacks on some citizens is not only false, malicious and misleading, but aimed at distracting the entire security architecture in Mangu LGA from dealing with the security situation headlong.

“The Outfit is known for proactive response and timely intelligence gathering and dissemination to security agencies for prompt action and has maintained that excellent role over the years leading to series of successes in averting security challenges across the state.

“While reminding the public that personnel of Operation Rainbow are drawn from conventional security agencies within the state, the professionality of these personnel have never been under question in the discharge of the constitutional duties of protecting lives and properties devoid of ethnic or religious consideration.

“The Outfit is therefore calling on the public to disregard the false allegation labelled against the Outfit and continue reporting suspected movements and activities within their environments to security agencies for immediate response.”

While commiserating with those that lost loved ones and valuables as a result of the attacks, the outfit urged residents to be law abiding
