Ecobank Confirms Abia Mall Not Owned by Former Speaker Orji, Sells Facility to Kalahari

A fresh letter from Ecobank Nigeria limited has confirmed that popular Abia Mall is not owned by Former Abia Speaker, Hon. Chinedum Orji as been previously rumoured in the State by opposition parties.

The letter dated January 4, 2024, obtained by IgbereTV, addressed to all tenants and occupants of Abia Mall, disclosed that Ecobank, as the legal mortgagee, has sold the property to Kalahari Retail & Distribution Company Limited. Consequently, the management of the Mall has been transferred to the new owner.

Tenants and occupants are advised to cooperate with the new property owners, Kalahari Retail & Distribution Company Limited, and direct any further inquiries or clarifications to either the new owner or Ecobank Nigeria Limited.

“All rights of the Bank exercised directly by itself or its appointed Receiver/Manager or agent are hereby vested in the purchaser, Kalahari Retail & Distribution Company Limited,” the letter stated.

This revelation dismisses any claims by the opposition parties of ownership of the facility by the former Abia Speaker, Chinedum Orji, putting an end to speculations and providing clarity on the true proprietorship of Abia Mall

IgbereTV recalls that the Abia Mall housing the popular Shoprite Umuahia which occupies about 24,000Sqm multi-floor commercial building with over 68 shop/office spaces was started during the tenure of H.E Senator T.A Orji and commissioned for use by H.E Okezie Victor Ikpeazu on November 24, 2016.
