The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Afolabi Babatola, has received the newly posted Brigade Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade, Yola, Brigadier General Paul Zawaye.
The visit of the new brigade commander to the Adamawa State Police headquarters in Yola on Wednesday came barely a month after soldiers attacked the office.
The attack which was a culmination of a disagreement between police and military operatives, is believed to be the reason for the transfer of the old brigade commander
The visit of the new commander to the state police commissioner on Wednesday was seen as an inter-agency confidence building move after the November 22, 2023 attack of the police headquarters.
During the visit, the new brigade commander who was accompanied by senior officers of the 23 Brigade, held discussions with the Commissioner of Police and members of the police management team.
According to a statement on the event released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the officers addressed critical issues such as security challenges in the state, synergy with sister security agencies, and enhancing collaboration.
“Recognizing the significance of collaboration and promoting community-oriented policing programs, the Brigade Commander assured the CP of his unwavering support towards the enforcement of discipline amongst the ranks and files,” the statement said.
