Legal practitioner, Inibehe Effiong has declared that , the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is mandected by the constitution to hold election for the seats of 25 Lawmakers who defeated from PDP to APC in River state, unless the Court rules differently.
In an interview with Arise Television, Effiong alkedged that former governor Nyesom Wike previously express opinion that elected officials should not be permitted to keep their seats if they switch parties after being elected.
He said, Wike, s stands stand on defection should remain consistent and should not take a different position in the current situation with the lawmakers in River state.
Effiong in his words which reads , “so my postulation is that until the court says otherwise INEC has the constitutional obligation to conduct election for the seats of the lawmakers who decamped and Nyesom Wike like he said , ” when you defect, you must loose your position” . Wike said this to zamfara state governor , so he cannot be saying something and do another thing”
