EPL: ‘It’s weird’ – Owen warns Man Utd duo are heading same way as Pogba, Di Maria

Former Manchester United striker, Michael Owen has warned that the club’s duo Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount are heading the same way as former Red Devils stars, Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria.

Rashford has been one of Man United’s worst performers this season, scoring just two goals and providing two assists across 14 Premier League matches.

Mount, on the other hand, has also struggled since he moved to Old Trafford from Chelsea in a £60m deal in the summer.

However, Owen believes both Rashford and Mount remind him of Pogba and Di Maria, who failed to live up to expectations during their time at Man United.

“We saw Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria arrive for huge money in the past, and we are currently seeing similar things happen with Rashford and Mason Mount,” Owen told BoyleSports.

“I’m struggling to think of one player who has got better and better.

“I’m not sure if this is trickling down from the ownership, management, or recruitment, I fail to agree that all of these signings and homegrown players are bad ones.

“These are great players, who, if they went to another team, would show their worth. Some United players were great before, and some are great when they leave.

“I know the players have better things in them. The problem is that they have not been able to showcase it. The club has had some of the best managers over the years, but they can’t seem to get a tune out of the team. It is weird.”
