13 Officers Arrested by Rivers State Police for inappropriate Outfit

The Rivers State Police Command has announced that 13 policemen have been arrested for indecent dressing.

State Police Commissioner Olatunji Disu disclosed this on Saturday, December 2, 2023, during a live radio show on a radio station in Port Harcourt.

Disu said that police officers were arrested during patrols by the command’s surveillance unit at various locations in Port Harcourt and are currently in custody.

He said, “During routine patrols in various parts of the city, we arrested about 13 policemen dressed in indecent clothing. This is part of an ongoing effort to stop indecent dress by officers in the command center. The heads of the departments where these arrested officers work will be held vicariously liable for the officers’ actions,” CP said.

Dis also assured that the killers of SP Baco Anh Bacin, a former divisional police officer from the province’s Ahoada Eastern Autonomous Region, will be arrested and brought to justice.

The police commissioner said he was overwhelmed by the public’s interest in the DPO’s murder.

He disclosed that he is in discussions with the stakeholders in Ahoada to arrest the prime suspect, Gift Okpara, and that he is taking advice from them as well.

He said, “As a police force, we cannot succeed without the cooperation and partnership of the public. I have begun to foster a partnership between the police and the public.

I had two meetings with the police traffic division to remind them that they must be courteous when dealing with the public.

‘We want to work with the public so that they trust us and provide us with information.
