Members of the Benue State Community Volunteer Guard have arrested three armed robbery suspects who were terrorizing the Otukpo/Enugu Federal Highway.
The arrested suspects were said to have blocked the road along the Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Expressway and robbed several road users.
According to witnesses, Community Volunteer Guard members patrolling along Odoba Hill received the information and acted quickly, resulting in the arrest of the three robbery suspects on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
“On November 29, 2023, at approximately 8:45 a.m., a team of State Community Volunteer Guards patrolling along Odoba Hill received information that a group of armed robbers were operating on the border between Okpokwu and Ogbadibo.
Although they (the suspects) were out of action, the team was able to track them down and successfully arrested three of them and handed them over to the police.
Special Advisor to Governor Joseph Ha, in charge of security and internal affairs, confirmed the arrests on Thursday and applauded the bravery of the team members.
He said, “I can confirm that the members of the BCVG have done a commendable job since they were assigned to replace the former zone commander. God will always vindicate them. I encourage them to keep up the momentum, especially at this time of the year as we enter the New Year.
