EFCC Arrested a Couple for N2.7bn money laundering in Lagos state

The Commission on Economic and Financial Crimes, the Lagos Zonal Command, arrested the couple, Oriyomi Idowu and Ruth Idowu, before Justice Mojisola Dada of Ikeja, a special criminal court sitting in Lagos.

 

 

They were arrested on Tuesday 2023-11-28 on 7 count charges adjacent to false pretexts, money laundering, theft, holding of stolen property, and the acquisition of money by forgery into the tune of N20b

 

 

 

According to the commission, the suspects were arrested along with food commodity processing enterprises, Bonway Food Processing Company Co., Ltd., Samee Idowu Company Co., Ltd. and Farmex Integration Company Co., Ltd., all belonging to Ruth Idowu.

 

 

One of the counts is “Ruth Sameeha Idowu, aka Loiry Ventures, Oriyomi Kabeer Idowu, aka Yocli Ventures, Food Commodity Processing Enterprises, Bonway Food Processing Company Ltd, Samee Idowu Company Limited, Farmex Integrated Companies Limited, will buy GLK Benz sometime in 2023, in Lagos, a total of N10,000,000, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court.” Convert the purchase sum derived from converting the sum of N500,000,000.To creditpro business support services aimed at disguising the illegal origin of funds.

 

The defendants pleaded “not guilty” to the charges when they were read to them.

 

 

 

 

In view of their plea, the lawyer of the Prosecutor’s office, Bilikisu Buhari, prayed to the court for the trial date in the correctional facility and the remand of the defendant.

 

 

 

the first defendant .Lawyers for Onwubuya informed the court of his client’s bail application, which had not yet been provided to the Prosecutor’s office.

 

 

 

He prayed to the court to remand the defendant in efcc custody and also asked for a short delay for the hearing and decision of the bail application.

 

 

 

the judge said that his lawyer, J.J.Ogunyemi held that there was no bail application before the court for the second defendant, who had not yet filed.

 

 

As a result, Judge Dada ordered the matter to be postponed until 2023-12-15 and remanded the accused to the Correctional Center “pending the hearing and decision of the bail application

.
