2024 WAFCONQ: Madugu confident Super Falcons will triumph over Cape Verde

Super Falcons interim head coach Justin Madugu is upbeat the team will earn a place at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations at the expense of Cape Verde.

The Nigerian Ladies will entertain the Cape Verdeans in the first leg of their final round qualifying contest at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja on Thursday.

The Falcons started preparations for the game on Monday with a light training session.

Twenty out of the 21 invited players are currently in the team’s camp with Deborah Abiodun still expected.

A number of key stars including Asisat Oshoala, Christy Ucheibe, Ifeoma Onumonu and Jennifer Echegini pulled out of the game but Madugu is confident they can triumph over their opponent.

“We are without a few regular players for various reasons but we are not here to dwell on that. The Super Falcons’ team remains the Super Falcons anytime, anyday and anywhere. We have players in camp who will do justice to the badge and get us the qualification ticket to the AFCON,” he told thenff.com.

“Surely, we would have wanted a couple more days for the team to train together, but the fixture is the fixture and the window is the window, and we just have to make do with what we have and get the best out of the arrangement. Everyone in camp will play their part for the Super Falcons to qualify for Morocco 2024.”
