The Committee for Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has condemned in strong words the killing of Toyin Bamidele, a Higher National Diploma student of the Department of Food Technology, Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State.
IgbereTV reports that Toyin was hacked to death at her residence in Offa recently.
A suspect has been arrested by the police in connection with the incident.
A statement by CDHR spokesman Akintunde Diya in Ilorin on Wednesday described the act “as devilish, barbaric, dastardly and gruesome.”
According to the statement: “Taking the life of a person is uncalled for and unacceptable; hence, the Committee of Defence for Human Rights, Kwara State, is calling for an immediate investigation to unravel the circumstance and fish out the culprits.
“We, therefore, call on the Commissioner of Police Victor Olaiya and other support security agencies to urgently swing into action and bring out the perpetrators of this evil act from their hideout.
“We strongly appeal to students of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, to be calm and remain resolute to learning and good character.”
The body urged the institution’s management to be more proactive and urgently x-ray the remote causes and nip in the bud attitudes and character among students that could lead to inhuman acts and breakdown of law and order in the school and community
