Kidnappers Kill Pastor in Kogi State After Receiving N1 Million Ransom

Pastor David Musa of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has been killed by kidnappers in Kogi State after he paid a ransom of N1 million.

The cleric was kidnapped from his farm in Obajana, Lokoja region of the state on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

A church member who identified herself as Mary said the pastor was killed shortly after the ransom was delivered on Tuesday night, November 14.

‘The pastor went to the farm on that ugly day. So his wife waited for him to return, but could not see her husband. When night fell, his wife raised the alarm, and church members, including area residents, went to his farm to look for him.

It was then that we learned that the pastor had been kidnapped. The kidnappers contacted the family and demanded $20,000,000 New Guinea dollars. The church and family could not come up with such a large sum of money, so they pleaded with the kidnappers and reduced the ransom to N1,000,000.

The kidnappers insisted that if they brought the money, they should bring charge cards, chicken, and lots of liquor, and two church members were sent to deliver the money and goods demanded by the kidnappers.

When they went to the kidnappers’ nest, they saw the pastor alive. They instructed the pastor and two other church members who had brought the money to return home.

‘Unfortunately, they then called for the pastor to return, and knowing that he would not be able to escape from there because the kidnappers had high-powered weapons, the pastor did as instructed.

When the pastor returned, they immediately shot him, killing him. Thus they brought his lifeless body back to Obajana. The entire church and community are in mourning because of this incident.”

A message posted on the church’s social media on Wednesday morning reads: “The kidnappers of our brother, Pastor Musa David, killed him last night after demanding a ransom of one million naira. Let us pray with the family, the church and the DCC during this difficult time.

Spokesman of the State Police Command, SP William Aya, who confirmed the incident on Thursday, November 16, said those behind the killing would be arrested and prosecuted.
