Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has revealed the reason behind Maduka Okoye’s withdrawal from the side’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
The Udinese goalkeeper was named in the 23-man squad for the games but couldn’t make it to Nigeria.
Bendel Insurance goalie, Amas Obasogie took his place in the squad.
There were speculations that Okoye pulled out of the games due to injury.
Peseiro has now debunked the claim stating that the former Watford shot stopper couldn’t honour the invitation due to passport problem.
“Maduka Okoye had passport issue,” Peseiro told a press conference on Wednesday
