LEEX Awards: Reps’ Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu Canvasses Support for Igbere TV

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Benjamin Kalu, has called on public-spirited individuals and organisations to give more support to Igbere Television, popular online community TV and organisers of Leadership Excellence (LEEX) Awards.

Hon Kalu made the remarks when he received members of the Local Organising Council (LOC) of the LEEX Awards in Abuja, for profiling. Kalu, a nominee for this year’s edition of the annual LEEX Awards, won the ‘Lawmaker of the Year’ category.

He commended Igbere TV for its consistency and professionalism in upholding the ethics of journalism, and dedication towards democracy, vowing to support and partner with the media organisation.

According to him, “One of the things I like about Igbere TV is your consistency, and professionalism in pushing the agenda for which you set out to achieve.

“May I commend you for working very hard for Nigeria’s democracy, and we will always support and partner with you.

“I call on democratic institutions and their supporters, and Civil Society Organizations to support the good work you are doing.

“The work you are doing is inspiring new energy in the democratic space and you need a whole lot of support and encouragement.

“This is my call as Deputy Speaker of the House, that for so many years you have been consistent, and we will continue to support you.

“I call on friends, colleagues and democratic organisations to come on board with our support, let’s take it from where you are to where you ought to be.”

The prestigious Leadership Excellence Awards (LEEX Awards), the fifth in a row, is organised annually by Igbere TV that recognises and honours the outstanding impacts of leaders across both the public and private sectors in Nigeria.

LEEX Awards also promotes outstanding leaders and personalities, whose impacts have been felt in Nigeria’s political, social and economic spheres.

The LEEX Awards was endorsed in 2020 by the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (AU-ECOSOCC), and in 2021 by the African Union Film Institute (AFI).

The fifth edition of the awards will hold on the 11th of November, 2023 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
