2026 WCQ: Zimbabwe must not show Super Eagles respect — Chidzambwa

Former Zimbabwe head coach, Sunday Chidzambwa has charged the Warriors to put up their best when they take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria this month.

The Warriors will host the Super Eagles in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Huye Stadium on Monday, October 20.

The Super Eagles are the overwhelming favourites to win the tie.

Chidzambwa has, however, urged Baltermar Brito’s side not to show too much respect to the Super Eagles.

“We must not respect them, we must play our own type of football, fight for ninety minutes and achieve good results for the nation,” he told the official website of the Zimbabwe Football Association.

Zimbabwe will take on the Amavubi of Rwanda before the game against the Super Eagles.

The Squirrels of Benin Republic, Crocodiles of Lesotho and Bafana Bafana of South Africa are the other teams in the group.

The top-place team in the group will earn a berth at the 2026 World Cup to be hosted by USA, Mexico and Canada
