The Nigerian Labour Congress ( NLC) has threaten to boycott their meeting with the federal government today Monday them ploy mentor 30th of October 2023 if the minister of labour and ,Simon Lalong shows up.
The labour bodies are expected to meet again with the Federal government to review the implimentation of memorandum of understanding (MOU) they signed on fuel subsidy removal palliatives.
Ahead of the meeting,the Organised Labour also lamented the devastating impact of the forex crises on the economy and demand urgent stabilization of the Naira.
Joe Ajaero, the NLC president in a statement blame the government officials for the free fall of the return currency.
In a statement titled” urgent action to stabilize the Naira admist it’s depreciation”.The NLC president said the repercussions of the return currency would be felt by workers and the poor masses.
He said “Hopefully, we may meet today Monday with the Federal government to see whether agreement with the Organised Labour on fuel subsidy removal palliatives was met or not”.
“If that meeting is to be held, it would be without the Minister of labour and Employment ,Simon Lalong because we will not have any meeting with the federal government that the labour minister will attain”
Joe Ajearo, the NLC president stated that ” the decision we had on national union of Road transport Workers that all parties including the police should leave the premises pending the resolution of the dispute
but that did not happen.
Therefore, any meeting we will have with the federal government,the minister of labour and employment will not be part of it” said Joe Ajearo.
