The bandits reportedly kidnapped Magazi Makau and five others, the district head of Luang Lana, the Buk Yum local government area in Zamfara Province.
Mohammed Moussa, an indigenous person in the area, told Punch that bandits who rode into the town of Rwan Rana in the early hours of Saturday 10/28 killed 1 person during the attack.
They reportedly arrived in town around 3 a.m. and began shooting sporadically, later going from house to house, kidnapping the district’s head and other prominent figures. They were alleged to have killed one person who refused to abduct.

“We heard gunshots around 3 a.m. and everyone was hiding because we knew the bandits were there for the abduction.
“They went from house to house, kidnapped 5 people, including our district chief, shot down 1, and later returned to the forest.
“I was not aware of the abducted people until the head of the district, Alhaji Makau, was among the victims when I heard it in the morning and came out.”
The Rep. representing the region, who also confirmed the incident, said Hon Hamisfar;
“The guards are making efforts to rescue the district chief and five others.”
