The federal government has announced that From Friday,the salaries of public officers whose records cannot be verified on the integrated Personnel Payroll information system (IPPIS) will be halted
This information was unfolded in a statement signed by the Head of civil service of the federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan as provided to journalists by the Director of communications , Muhammed Ahmed on Wednesday ,October 25th ,2023.
The statement further explained that a two-week verification period to be concluded on Friday 27th October,2023 was set up as an act of leniency for officers who has not participated in the earlier verification exercise.
“Adequate arrangements were put in place for a smooth exercise in designated areas of the FCT, however the officers’ impatience and lack of orderliness in the first two days made the exercise rowdy.This has been duely addresses and the two-weeks exercise scheduled to end on Friday 27th of October,2023 is progressing very well”.
The verification of records of all Civil servants will be finalized at the end of the ongoing exercise and any officer whose records could not be verified will be delisted from the payroll of the government the statement reads.
In 2013,the officers of the Head of service of the federation who hold the official records and information of all public servants were task with the responsibility of purging the payroll records.
Utilizing technology,the officer introduced a verification portal in April,2017 and instructed all public servants to conduct online update of records.
An extensive awareness campaign was conducted by the officers through the official channels , traditional platforms and social media.
