Jordan Torunarigha has said that playing for the Super Eagles was a “special moment” for him, IgbereTV reports.
The KAA Gent of Belgium centre-back made his debut for the Super Eagles in the 3-2 friendly win against the Mambas of Mozambique last week.
Torunarigha started the game and was replaced by Fulham star Calvin Bassey 15 minutes from time.
The 26-year-old represented Germany at the youth level before switching allegiance to Nigeria.
The centre-back said it was a proud moment for him to play for the three-time African champions.
“It was a very special moment and I’m really proud. Nigeria is a team with many top players and great characters that you enjoy being on the pitch with,” he told Transfermarkt.
“We won; that’s always the most important thing. We would have liked to keep a clean sheet, but it was fun on the field. I hope the coach and my teammates were happy.”
