Former Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has renewed his call for our people, especially young men and women to get involved in some form of entrepreneurship as the most workable pathway to conquer poverty.
The former Governor made this renewed call yesterday while speaking at the 2ND ANNUAL LECTURE SERIES to mark his 59th birthday held at the Pa Ishmael Ikpeazu Memorial Library, Umuobiakwa, Obingwa LGA.
According to the Governor, young people must as a matter of necessity, embrace modern tools especially the internet to expand the frontiers of their passion to excel in entrepreneurship and reduce emphasis on looking for paid jobs.
The Lecture titled ENTREPRENEURSHIP AS A PATHWAY TO ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT was delivered by a globally recognized trainer on entrepreneurship and pitching, Chioma Ogbudimkpa, had mainly in attendance, selected young and budding business owners from across 4 major areas of ICT, Fashion, Leather Works and Agro Allied. 20 persons from these 4 categories received some form of financial support at the event.
Earlier in the day, Dr Ikpeazu’s wife, Nkechi had hosted an event where several persons, mostly rural women involved in different kinds of petty trading also received some monetary support for their trades, in commemoration of her husband’s birthday.
The high point of the day was the birthday luncheon where family, some friends and associates of the former Governor gathered to celebrate with him on his 59th birthday.
Goodwill messages came from his family, the Aba Business Community, his former political appointees and from the PDP Governorship Candidate in the 2023 election, Chief Okey Ahiwe represented by his running mate, Dr. Jasper Uche.
It was indeed a beautiful evening of Thanksgiving to God for His bountiful blessings on the life of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and his family.
