Ebonyi State came 3rd amongst the 36 States of the Federation in the 2023 State to States Report, Fiscal Performance Ranking, as published by BudgIT Nigeria (www.budgit.org) yesterday, October 17, 2023.
This was made known in a statement made available to IGBERE TV correspondent by Mr. Leo Oketa, Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Francis Nwifuru to Ebonyi State.
According to him, the ranking is done according to various indices which includes, but not limited to;
– ‘States that have comparatively limited dependence on federally distributed revenue for their operations and thus have greater viability if they were to theoretically exist as an independent entity.’
– ‘States that have been able to significantly grow their internally generated revenue year-on-year and are progressively reducing their over-reliance on federal transfers.’
– ‘States that have comparatively more public revenue left to implement the capital expenditure components of their budgets after fulfilling repayment obligations to lenders and their government’s operating expenses.’
Mr Oketa further congratulated to Ebonyians and sent super kudos to His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his diligence, accountability and transparency.
He added that there is still more room for improvement and he is certain that the Governor will work hard to get Ebonyi State to 1st position.
