In Okon Eket village, Akwa Ibom State, youth leaders allegedly beat a woman named Obot Udo Ekpo for allegedly stealing three bunches of plantains.
On Monday, October 16, 2023, early in the morning, the suspect was reportedly caught in the act.
She reportedly intended to resell the stolen plantain bunches at the well-known weekly Urua Udo Inyang market, which is currently taking place, but bad luck prevented her.
The suspect, who is from Ikot Akpandem in Okon Eket, has been turned over to the police at Uqua Division for investigation and prosecution by the village youth president, Akparawa Uyai Udo Jacob.
