Robbers broke into the palace of Oba James Sodiya, the Olu of Ogunmakin town in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, and took his staff of office and crown.
On Thursday, October 12, robbers broke into the deceased monarch’s palace after he passed away about two months prior.
Omolola Odutola, a police spokesperson in the state, confirmed the incident and stated that three suspects had been taken into custody in relation to it.

Amusa Kazeem, Oke Oladipupo, and Johnson Oluwole allegedly conspired to steal the royal crown and the staff of office two months after the death of King of Ogunmakin on October 12, 2023, according to intelligence that was received from the palace of his Royal Majesty Late Ogunmakin on that date.
“At around 2:00 a.m., the suspects are alleged to have entered the home where the late king’s property was kept.
“The trio removed the royal crown and the late king’s office staff by using the key that was kept in the possession of the person tasked with looking after the property, performing what was called an abomination.
“As soon as the information was received, the police sprang into action and took the royal crown from one Kazeem Amusan’s home.
Although there has been no recovery of the office staff, aggressive action is being taken to do so. The suspects have been detained and are currently being questioned.
