EPL: It’s normal – Jesus opens up on fight with Manchester City’s Ederson

Arsenal striker, Gabriel Jesus has opened up about his bust-up with Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson following his the Gunners’ recent milestone victory over the Premier League champions last weekend.

Recall that Arsenal secured a crucial 1-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s side at Emirates Stadium, thanks to Gabriel Martinelli’s 86th-minute winner.

After the final whistle, emotions spilled over with Man City duo Kyle Walker and Erling Haaland involved in a spat with Arsenal’s set-piece coach Nicolas Jover.

Jesus, meanwhile, who left Man City to join Arsenal in the summer of 2022, clashed with his former club teammate Ederson in stoppage time with the keeper clattering his fellow Brazil compatriot to the ground for time-wasting.

The incident saw both players booked but Jesus has played down the bust-up after linking up with Ederson on international duty for Brazil’s national team.

“I have a good relationship, not just with Ederson. But on the pitch it is normal,” Jesus told reporters when asked about his tussle with Ederson.

“But on the pitch, he defends his team and I defend mine. It was a moment when we were winning and it was not easy to beat them.

“We were winning and I held the ball there. Anyway, he ended up giving me a push but afterwards, everything was normal. We came together and talked. That is it.”
