On Friday, October 6, a Reverend Father and two other people were rescued from an insurgent camp at Ogbunka in Orumba South LGA by a police-led Forward Operating Base (FOB) made up of military and paramilitary Services based in Aguata and assisted by Police Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu.
According to a statement made by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra state police command’s spokesperson, three abducted people, including a Reverend Father, were freed unharmed.
Three suspects were detained, nine vehicles, and three pump action shotguns were found.
Ikenga claimed that additional items found in the area included a stolen camouflage uniform, a Biafra flag, several handsets, flash drives, and sim cards that would help with a thorough investigation and criminal prosecution.
This gang has recently been linked to a wave of kidnappings in Orumba North and South as well as some areas of Aguata LGAs. They were all taken this month, the victims of the abductions.
Months of painstaking intelligence gathering and investigation led to the discovery of the criminal hideout, which was followed by the raid on the insurgents’ camp.
