Following a confrontation between students over a relationship with a female classmate, the unnamed Abubakar, a 200-level student in the computer science department at the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State, has been confirmed dead.
The tragic incident involving eight university students occurred on Thursday around 1:20 pm at Darawa quarters, Dutsinma LGA, Katsina State, according to the state police command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq. He claimed that the incident was the result of a heated argument between the students that turned deadly.
The command is reportedly treating the situation seriously and is conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances of the incident.
The command also stated that it was diligently gathering and examining all available information, including eyewitness accounts, in order to develop a thorough understanding of what happened while upholding the ideals of justice and fairness.
It also denied rumors spreading on social media that the tragic death of the student was caused by a “religious issue,” urging the public to dispel any rumors or false information that might have surfaced.
