Oyedepo said that “the international image of Nigeria is in jeopardy, as both the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, RCMP, and the FBI complained to Nigeria about this matter and how it relates to the sudden death of a 14-year-old minor” as he prayed for an expedited hearing of the case.

Following intelligence from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or RCMP, that the Commission had received, the suspect was apprehended by EFCC agents on August 4, 2023 in the Akute region of Ogun State. He allegedly hacked into some social media accounts, pretended to be a young attractive woman to seduce his unwitting victims, and searched for their sexually explicit photos, including nude pictures of a 14-year-old Canadian boy.
According to the investigation, the suspect later used the 14-year-old’s nude photos to blackmail him, which resulted in his death.
A mobile phone with incriminating documents was taken from him during a search by EFCC agents of his home in Ilaro, Ogun State.
