Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission, EKSIEC, has concluded plans to conduct elections in the 16 local governments and 22 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.
The Chairman of the Commission, Justice Cornelius Akintayo, dropped the hint during a press conference on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, to announce activities of the commission ahead of the exercise.
Justice Akintayo, flanked by other members of the Commission said the election of 177 counsellors would also be conducted.
He explained that Ward Congresses to elect chairmanship and Counsellorship candidates by political parties would come up on Saturday 7th of October 2023.
Collection and submission of nomination forms by various political parties participating in the election will be held from the 12th to the 18th of October 2023.
Submission of the list of qualified and unqualified candidates to political parties and replacement of candidates by political parties would also come up from the 6th to the 10th of November.
The EKSIEC Chairman while soliciting the support of the media and other relevant stakeholders in the state for the success of the exercise, said the publication of names of electoral officers nominated by political parties and issuance of notice of polls will be done on the 20th of November 2023.
He said the notice of the withdrawal of candidates by political parties and the closing of electioneering campaigns by political parties will end by the 24th of November and 29th of November respectively.
Reiterating the readiness of the Commission under his leadership to conduct a free and credible election, he explained that the Commission has concluded plans to embark on aggressive awareness and mobilisation of voters.
