A man is shot dead in Kwara, along with his two siblings and his mother, who was abducted.      

In Kwara State, gunmen thought to be kidnappers shot and killed one AbdulRasheed Alafara and two of his siblings before kidnapping their mother.

 

On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at around 10:00 p.m., the incident took place in the state’s Alalubosa Community, Okoolowo Local Government Area.

 

 

 

According to reports, a group of six AK-47-toting kidnappers broke into the neighborhood and started firing randomly.

Many locals who were outside during the incident hastened to safety.

 

 

 

 

According to reports, Alafara was first shot in the leg by the gunmen before being fatally macheted as he tried to flee.

 

 

 

According to reports, the deceased’s siblings Semiat Mukaila and Abdullahi, the other two victims, are being treated for gunshot wounds at an undisclosed hospital.

 

 

 

 

Abdullahi, one of the victims, told Daily Trust that the shooters were active for around 30 minutes.

 

 

 

 

Later on, when they were confronted, “the vigilantes engaged them in gunfire, killing one of them in the process.”.

 

 

 

 

“They kidnapped our mother, killed my brother, and severely hurt two other siblings.

The Magaji, our father, escaped.

However, it was the vigilantes who arrived quickly in response to our call and killed one while also saving our mother.

 

 

 

 

“We called the police around 10:00 pm on Tuesday, but they didn’t show up until 10:00 am today (Wednesday),” he continued.

 

 

 

 

To improve the state’s security, Abdullahi urged the government to arm the vigilantes.

 

 

 

A team of police officers were already on the scene, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, the state police command’s spokesman, confirmed.
