Rashida Umar and Rukaiya Ladan, two female suspects, were detained in Nasarawa State on suspicion of supplying weapons to bandits.
Following reliable information about the movement of some suspects trafficking in arms from Fadan Karshe in the state’s Sanga LGA towards Akwanga, the women were detained at 177 Gds Bn CP in Akwanga.
The suspects were found to have over 1,000 rounds of special 7.62mm x 39mm ammunition.
The alleged assailants were en route to Kontagora, Niger State, to deliver the ammunition to an unnamed arms dealer.
The suspects and recovered ammunition were given to the Department of State Services (DSS) for additional investigation and necessary action.
