In Uyo, the state capital, officers from the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have neutralized two members of a robbery gang and detained another.
The robbers have been terrorizing residents of Udoette by School Road, Ikot Udoro, and its surroundings, according to command spokeswoman SP Odiko Macdom, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
According to him, the command received a distress call about an armed robbery incident last Tuesday at about 1:50 am, and members of the Quick Response Unit went to the scene.
The criminals started a gunfight with the police when they saw them.
Two of the notorious robbers were killed during the gunfight, according to the PPRO, and one Godswill Isaac was taken into custody.
According to him, the criminals had four pistols made in the area, 15 live rounds, two expanded rounds, and an iron cutter recovered from them.
Other items include ten Android phones, five smaller phones, N15,750 cash, $8, two machetes, one dagger, two plasma television sets, a Woofer MP3, a HP computer laptop, and a Woofer MP3.
According to the spokesman, some victims have been making their way to the Police Command Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia to be identified and to retrieve their belongings.
