In connection with the alleged rape of his 21-year-old neighbor’s wife, Jafaru Adamu, a 36-year-old resident of Anguwar Diocese Kala’a in the state’s Hong local government, has been detained by members of the Adamawa State police command.
According to a statement made by SP Sulaiman Nguroje, the command’s image maker, the suspect committed the heinous act on August 15 in the afternoon while the survivor’s husband was away.
The investigation has thus far shown that the suspect was hiding his face with a black mask and had a knife in his possession, which he used to intimidate the victim into complying with his demands.
Regrettably, his mask came off while he was committing the crime.
After the survivor recognized him, he then left the crime scene through a window, Nguroje said.
The statement also stated that the survivor’s husband had reported the incident to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Kala’a.
“The Police Commissioner, CP Afolabi Babatola, who disapproves of the ugly incident, has ordered the officer in charge of the Family Support Unit to take over the investigation and make sure that thorough prosecution is carried out. The Police Boss, who shares the victim’s husband’s sorrow over the unfortunate incident, also appeals to the general public to support the Command’s fight to eradicate all forms of gender-based violence, the statement continued.
