A man impersonating a police commissioner and presenting himself to the public has been apprehended by members of the Lagos state police command.
On September 11, while briefing reporters on the command’s most recent successes, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesperson for the command, confirmed the arrest.
According to him, Emmanuel, a purported “fake CP,” was detained on September 1. 2, at roughly 4:40 p.m. m. when he went to a police station in the Ikorodu neighborhood and introduced himself as the commissioner of police.
“He was fully accepted as such, but it was later learned that he was an impostor.
We seized a Kenwood walkie-talkie, a police camouflage singlet, a face cap, a Deputy Commissioner of Police warrant card, an Assistant Commissioner of Police warrant card, and other items during a search of his home, the official said.
Another impostor was detained on September 11, according to the command’s spokesperson.

According to Hundeyin, the suspect, one Ibrahim Bello, has allegedly been acting and presenting himself as a lawyer at the Epe Magistrate Courts for a number of years.
He claimed that while the suspect was visiting a client in court, Command agents detained him while he was fully attired in a lawyer’s uniform.
He was brought in for questioning, where it was found that he was a fake, the man claimed.
Items discovered with him, which were also displayed, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), included a portrait of him bearing the inscription: “Bello Law Firm Office, Obas and Chiefs of Lagos State Law, Tenancy Law 2015, Due Process of Law, and Law of Trespass of Land and Nuisance.”.
