Prince Afolabi Ghandi Laoye, a former pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Jesus House, Washington, DC, has been appointed Soun of Ogbomosoland.
Early on Friday morning, September 8, Olaoye was crowned, and the crowd gathered at the palace applauded and praised the new ruler as he sat on the throne of his forebearers.
For the ritual ceremony and installation as the new Soun, he arrived on Friday in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Since Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi Ajagungbade III, his immediate predecessor, passed away on December 12, 2021, the traditional throne has been vacant.
Olusegun Olayiwola, the state’s commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters, revealed last week that Laoye had been chosen by the governor following the drawn-out procedures required by law.
