Seun Kuti’s assault case has been postponed until September 27.
On Monday, September 4, the case was scheduled to be heard at the Magistrate court in Yaba, Lagos state, but it was postponed because Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun was not present.
Remember that the singer was apprehended after Usman Baba, a former police chief, ordered his arrest on May 13 for allegedly assaulting a uniformed police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge in May of this year.
On social media, a video of the singer punching the officer and charging at him went viral.
The performer surrendered on May 15 and was then taken into custody.
The police officer tried to kill, the son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti said in defense, but he wouldn’t file a criminal complaint.
He was taken into custody, placed in handcuffs, and taken to the state CID in Panti, Yaba for an investigation.
On May 23, however, he was freed after completing the requirements of his bail.
He was charged in court with violating Section 356 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act by assaulting the police officer.
