All banks are required to close on Tuesday, September 5, and Wednesday, September 6, 2023, according to the National Union of Banks, Insurance, and Financial Institutions Employees, or NUBIFIE.
The notice, according to a statement made public, is in accordance with the Nigeria Labour Congress’ decision to call for a two-day strike action following the NEC meeting that took place on August 31, 2023, on Thursday.
Mohammed I, the Union’s General Secretary, signed the declaration. “Sheikh,” read.
“In accordance with the communiqué issued following the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, all affiliates should direct all its members to begin two days of service withdrawal on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 5 & 6, 2023. The directive is essential to get the government’s needed attention and warn it off its newly discovered love of meddling in the internal affairs of unions rather than address the harsh economic conditions we currently find ourselves in.
By making sure that all of our members are excused from work for the two days, we hereby direct all of our organs to follow this directive.
