Yahoo Boy receives a community service sentence from the court for $270 fraud.

Justice  Adelaja of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, seated in Kubwa, has sentenced one Abass Aminu Abdulkareem to community service for $270 fraud.

The convict was arraigned on a single count charge related to internet fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday.

This was disclosed by the EFCC on Wednesday in a post that was shared on the page of the agency’s X app (formerly Twitter).

The accusation was read.

That sometime in 2023 in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the Federal Capital Territory’s High Court, you, Abass Aminu Abdulkareem, deceived by personating when you claimed to be Jeremiah Lincoln, a citizen of the United States of America, on your Facebook profile page. Proceeding in that capacity, you obtained $270 from Amanda, Jeremiah Lincoln’s cousin, and as a result, you committed an offense against Section 321 of the Penal Code Law (Laws of the Federation, Abuja) 1990, which is punishable under Section 324 of the same Law. ..

Recognizing his guilt, the defendant entered a plea.

The Nigerian Correctional Service officers will be overseeing Abdulkareem’s community service after Judge Adelaja found him guilty despite his plea. Additionally, he forfeits to the federal government his iPhone XR and 12 Pro.
