Operation Hadin Kai’s Theater Commander, Maj. Gen. On Monday, August 21, 2023, at the Theatre Command Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri during the handover of the girl to the Borno Ministry of Women Affairs, Gold Chibuisi revealed this to reporters.
According to Chibuisi, on August 14, 2023, soldiers from the 81 Task Force Battalion of Operation Hadin Kai at Dikwa, during an operation into the terrorists’ stronghold, rescued Nkeki and her repentant insurgent husband Adam.

She was forcibly married to a Boko Haram terrorist named Adam while she was held captive, he claimed.
“Since being saved, she has gone through a careful medical examination at our hospital. She has also been adequately revived and will be given to Borno state, he continued.
Chibuisi reaffirmed the military’s commitment to maintaining north-eastern security and establishing a stable political order.
Speaking to newsmen about her experience since the kidnapping, Mary described it as being filled with suffering.
Mary claimed to have given birth to two deceased female children for Adam.
She claimed that she and her husband, Adam, turned away from terrorism and fled the terrorist stronghold at the Dikwa axis, where they were both rescued by the military.
She was split up from Adam after their rescue, though, as he was taken to the camp of rebels who had admitted their wrongdoing.
Two additional Chibok girls were reportedly left behind by her.
The Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok was raided by Boko Haram terrorists in 2014, and Mary was kidnapped along with over 200 other students.
She is the sixteenth young woman that the military has rescued recently.
