Today, August 14, in the early hours, unidentified soldiers attacked a member of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, or LASTMA, in the Ojota area of the state, beating him into a coma in what appears to be retaliation.
Recall that a video of an army officer fighting with a LASTMA official appeared online last week. The viral video showed the LASTMA officer striking the soldier with his club before the two got into a fight. It is unclear what caused their altercation.
Eight soldiers, wearing improvised masks on their faces, were seen grabbing the LASTMA officer and beating him for several minutes in a viral video. The officer was seen being beaten to the ground by one of the enraged soldiers as other LASTMA officers fled the scene.
The Director of Operations, Mr. A, for LASTMA, Bolaji Oreagba, confirmed the incident. Peter uttered.
“We have reported the incident to the army’s highest authorities. They have already started to get involved. In due time, we’ll give you an update. The behavior is totally unacceptable.
